What is a fraternity?

A fraternity is a brotherhood of lifetime friendship between a group of individuals who share common goals and interests.

What is a sorority?

A sorority is the same as a fraternity, except its members are women.

What is a chapter?

A chapter is an individual branch of a fraternity. For example, Sigma Delta Alpha is comprised of nine undergraduate chapters, all located at different colleges and universities across California and Nevada.

How many members does your fraternity have?

Our chapter is comprised of 141 members, and the fraternity as a whole is comprised of 865 members.

How does your chapter perform academically?

Academic achievement is one of Sigma Delta Alpha's most important values, and our chapter works diligently to maintain this image. In 2012, for example, Gamma Chapter earned the highest overall GPA in our council, MGC. In 2013, Gamma Chapter earned the highest overall GPA of all UNLV Men's Greek Fraternities, and the second highest overall GPA of all UNLV Greek organizations.

What is MGC?

The Multicultural Greek Council, also known as MGC, is an umbrella organization comprised of ten fraternities and sororities at UNLV. The purpose of MGC is to promote a positive image of its member fraternities and sororities "through the encouragement of community service and philanthropy, support for high academic standards, and the development of campus and community leaders". The Gamma Chapter of ΣΔΑ is a founding member of this organization.

What is the fraternity's philanthropy?

Our fraternity's national philanthropy is men's health.
